The 9th annual CSTS Raleigh NC is in the books! We were fortunate enough to have another great event this year. For the 4th straight year since we went to the one night format as opposed to a Sun / Mon screening we sold out the event in advance. (We use ETIX to sell our tickets and since its for charity they only charge $1 per ticket. $15 is the ticket price so we net $14.) I am always so grateful and amazed each time we are able to sell out the screening.

First of I want to note how fortunate we are to have a wonderful venue that hosts us every single year. They took a leap of faith with us 9 years ago and agreed to allow us to throw our shindig there. It is so important to have a good venue. The venue we use is a full service theatre with big cushy leather seats and full menu of tasty eats and adult beverages. Since we have been able to pull numbers in the past the venue graciously waives the rent and knows that Browncoats bring cashy money. 200 folks = a sunny payload for the theatre. This really helps with the bottom line.

We start the event with doors at 6:00 p.m with the aim to show Serenity at 8:00. The crowd files in and has food and drink, mingles and gets ready for the costume contest and raffle. Once the raffle is over we show a few videos. This year we showed Mikey Mason's "Please bring Firefly Back for Christmas' - the crowd loved it! It seemed as many of them had not seen it before. Finally before we start the movie we have a video tribute to our sponsors. This can be seen here:

Our sponsors. I really can't thank them enough. We have folks that through their own businesses or personally have donated every single year and become our "Big Damn Heroes". We also have wonderful people that donate great items for the raffle. Perhaps its an item they bought or in many cases art they created. These are the lifeline of the raffle which accounts for a heft chunk of our final totals.

Our Crew. The crew we have in Raleigh behind the event is small but mighty. As all of you know countless hours go in to preparing for a CSTS event of any kind. The core group we have here is just amazing.

We were able to raise $5003 this year. $3752 went to Equality Now and $1251 went to Kids Need to Read. It is our plan to keep having CSTS events every year here in Raleigh. We will always keep Flying!
