CSTS in Rio de Janeiro

Sun May 03, 2015 1:59 am

Well, that's something new. If this really happens (specially if the place - a university- don't enter in strike), will be the first CSTS in Latin America, and better, in the birthplace of our respcted companion.

The event will happens, till the moment, in september, 21(20 was not an able day, because is Sunday :? ). Will be the special edition of a sci-fi movie+debate I am doing in my university. Here is the point some people can "booo" or something like that. How we don't live in a too much "equal" country, we obviously will not donate to Kids Need to Read, an american organization. The thing will be with Equality Now. And will be with a feminist debate. We can ask for money because will be in a public place (a federal university auditorium), so, we will receive money from sell products linked with the nerd universe, specially with a girls-theme. Why? Because is a strong ask in Brazil, the big stores don't sell clothes in a women-cut, and specially, they don't do that with female carachters...

In resume: Serenity exhibition - debate "women in sci-fi" - small fundraising shop

Will be something small, the money will be few, but we will make this with proud. I have a browncoat friend who will help me, and maybe some browncoats from other places of the country(remember, Brazil is a continental country like Australia or USA...so, it's far!). Remember, too: Firefly was aired just once in Brazil, by Fox, when the most part of the people didn't had cable TV...so, we don't have too much browncoats.

Well...is that. If someone have any hint to this specific and very unique case of event...please share! :D

Cheers, and don't stop the signal.

Hey Nariz, welcome. This sounds like a wonderful idea! Please send in an Expression of Interest, so that we can help you get moving on this. You can find it here:
https://www.cantstoptheserenity.com/host ... -interest/ or if you have the date and the location and everything else set, fill in a full registration.
The event needs to be approved by CSTS before you go too far in the planning.
