A brief glimpse of the Special Hell screening. Seemed like *the moment* would be the one to capture.

(Spoiler warning, etc. but if you still need one, what are you doing here?)

And...just sending in Portland's donation:

$5,000 to Equality Now

Cheers!

I hope you won't take this the wrong way, but why are you keeping $500 for the PDX Browncoats? I didn't see this mentioned in any of the advertising, and was under the impression that all funds raised from the CSTS event would be donated solely to Equality Now, not retained to cover the costs of your own group.

Hey Jen,
Just wanted to respond to your concerns. The donation isn’t to cover expenses for the event. We subtracted out costs (theater, film rental, etc) before we made the donation. The NPO doesn’t have any overhead to cover as everything is done by volunteers. This is a donation to a charity we deemed worthy, which is the PDX Browncoats, as stated in the Global rules about donations to secondary charities. In hindsight it does appear we didn’t post it on the website for the event, which is definitely an error on our part and something we very much apologize for. It was an error and not intentional. Before doing this, we carefully looked over the rules and requested feedback in a thread on our board from the PDX Browncoat members at large well in advance of the screening. We received support from our members for this course of action. We also put the question to Global in a message to Anne in May. We didn’t hear back from Global regarding a breach of any kind in this portioning of the donation. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions! Thanks.

I admit to being perplexed at this as well. I was asked for advice on this very issue before a decision was made (unnecessary, of course, since I'm not even involved anymore), and my advice amounted to "be transparent about it and I doubt anyone will care".

I had thought that was what the way it was going to be handled, and I have no idea why it wasn't. Not to pile on, but "transparency" has been my mantra both in and out of CSTS, as it's never particularly seemed to me to be an optional value. It should be ingrained, and therefore never dropped by being overlooked

But anyway. My two cents.
