Wow, your event sounds fantastic!!

Quote:
We have a venue, date and time, so ticket sales can begin!

Location: H.R. MacMillan Space Centre Auditorium, 1100 Chestnut Street, Vancouver
Date: Saturday, June 27, 2009
Time: 11 am to 6 pm

Not only will we be showing Serenity, but Joss has given permission for all the CSTS 2009 cities to show Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog - and we'll be singing along!

Dress up as your favourite Firefly/Serenity character - or anyone from the Joss verse - and you could win a prize. Silent Auction already has a few exciting items: an eight-week introductory course from Academie Duello, a meal prepared by John from La Fontana Caffe, a signed script from Smallville, a mousepad autographed by Jewel Staite with more to come. The Silent Auction is cash only.

Tickets are $15 each, available through the PayPal button below ($1 service charge will be added), from Happy Bats Cinema (cash only, please), 198 East 15th Avenue (just east of Main Street), or from a member of the organising team at any of the upcoming shindigs. Tickets bought through this website will be available for pickup at the door.

Join us for a day of fun activities, including games, singing, and much more, plus The Big Damn Movie, of course! We have door prizes, goodie bags and more! Keep checking back for updates.

T-shirts are available for pre-order. Payment through PayPal buttons below or in person must be made by May 13th. Check out this year's design by an Ottawa Browncoat. T-shirts can be picked up at the door on the day of the screening.

The Can't Stop The Serenity (CSTS) global movement is for the benefit of Equality Now, Joss Whedon's favourite charity, which works to end violence and discrimination against women and children throughout the world. Last year we pledged to donate 10% of the net proceeds to the BC Women's Hospital and Health Centre, which we did, to the tune of $300. This year, we will be donating 20% to BC Women's. So come out and support local and global charities and have a great time doing so.

Thanks to our generous donors and sponsors, especially Row Three, which continues as our largest donor. If you like movies, check out rowthree. com for up-to-date reviews and discussions.

I'm so excited that you're continuing to support the BC Women's Health & Hospital Centre as well as Equality Now!! Man, I wish I could be at your event!! :D

I wish you could be, too.

Yes, BC Women's was really happy that we're supporting them again, with a higher percentage (20%) this year. They interviewed me for their newsletter and put us in the Annual Report.

We're also trying to work out the logistics of having a sword-fighting demonstration, a la Shindig, but we haven't announced that yet.

Well, sort of, I guess. I haven't put it on our blog, meetup site, MySpace or Facebook yet, though, just in case it falls through.

Thanks for posting that, Jen. I did actually do a post this afternoon, but I guess I was interrupted before posting and then I had to restart my computer and I must have lost it! :(

What a great assortment of items. There is something for everyone!
And the tea cosy is enough to make we want to drink tea on a regular basis. :D

The tea cosy is actually a picture of the one I got as a gift - along with the teapot, since I don't drink tea but most of my regular dinner guests do. :)

We also have some numbered prints of local scenery (unframed).

I like your Sony DVD players as items - and of course anything that Alex (Styrofoam guy) does , I covet!

My local comic shop, fittingly called The Comic Shop :D, is donating a prize/auction item for the fourth year - they ordered The Firefly Visual Companion, but if it doesn't come they'll give me the hard back TPB of the Serenity comics or even Buffy or Angel. In addition, the manager found a bunch of Serenity hats, key chains and buttons left over from the Universal promo package which he is also giving me. :)

We also have two tickets to VCON 35, our local sci-fi convention, and a book by this year's guest author, Tanya Huff, who wrote the books on which the TV series Blood Ties was based. I'm also waiting to see what a couple of other comic stores are donating. They'll be picked up this week.

I also received the autographed copy of the Firefly soundtrack CD from Greg Edmonson this week. He's such a lovely man, as Lioness can attest.

So things are coming together. Luckily I still have a week before our event because I still have a list of things to do - mostly by me although someone else is doing the program again this year. (I still am the editor and writer, though, and have to get all the ingredients to him!) I took the goodie bag bags and the quotations I put on labels to our Firefly meetup last night and we had all the labels on the bags within about seven minutes. Bodes well for stuffing the goodie bags next Friday. We also got a few more good trivia questions for the Firefly Trivia Bingo we're going to play. Hmm, still have to make up the cards for that - probably part of tomorrow's jobs while I'm at the office.

We still have a few prizes to come in and I have to sort out the Silent Auction items, print and fill in the item sheets, oh, and do the PowerPoint presentation. I have tomorrow and four nights still - totally doable! :D

I'm taking Friday off to get .some extra sleep and relaxation before the big day - and plan on doing nothing at all on Sunday!! :D

Absolutely doable! I think that such a public glance into all the hard work you are putting into this will make everyone bid even higher for the auction items, right, Vancouverites?
