The Melbourne event is a go!

Sunday 30 August at Federation Hall at the Victorian College of the Arts (St Kilda Rd, Melbourne). We'll be screening Serenity and Dr Horrible on DVD, as well as some very shiny extra special stuff not ever seen before in Melbourne!

Plus, you'll have the opportunity to win some extremely awesome prizes in our raffle, live auction and costume competition. Prizes include items signed by Joss Whedon, Tim Minear, Alan Tudyk, Nathan Fillion, Jewel Staite, Ron Glass, Jonathan Woodward, Nectar Rose, Michael Fairman, Sonny Rhodes, Geoff Mandel, Dichen Lachman and more! We'll also have a range of merchandise available for sale, including Kaylee Maquettes!

Tix will be $15 pre-sale (on sale soon) and $20 at the door.

We did a run through of our screening media yesterday and the venue is fantastic! Great sound, and a HUGE screen, plus super comfy seats! And Dr Horrible looks AMAZING on the big screen!

We've got heaps of prizes for you to win, including items signed by Joss Whedon! And Tim Minear! Wow, what a day!! Our fourth Can't Stop the Serenity event was an overwhelming success! And we had a fantastic time!

131 dedicated Browncoats and Joss Whedon fans packed into the VCA Federation Hall to watch Dr Horrible and Serenity on the big screen, and enjoy a few surprises. There were lots of fantastic costumes, prizes galore, and a great deal of fun was had! We'll be posting an event recap in a few days, together with lots of photos, so check back at www.melbournebrowncoats.com soon.

Now, we know you're all anxious to hear how much money we raised for Equality Now. We're waiting on an invoice or two to arrive, and we've got a few more events planned in September and October, so we can't give you the final total that will be donated to Equality Now just yet.

But based on what we know so far, it looks like we've raised over $2,300 for Equality Now!!!

Thank you to every single one of you who came along, donated your cashy money to a good cause, and helped us to make our fourth year fantastic!! We are mighty!!

We had some extra bills come in and also got some more donations, and after doing all our sums, we're pleased to announce that our final official donation to Equality Now is as follows:

AUD 2,259.98 / USD 1,950.

The extra expenses dropped our total to below the amount we'd already donated, so it's been topped up with donations.
