Hihi!

I have the forum, I've made up the website and made it shiny and now I need some help so I can figure out who to do presales.

I have a personal/premium paypal account. Is it possible to have another account connected to this account in which I can put only money being raised for the event? I really don't want to mix the charity with my personal account - too many things can go wrong. However, using paypal to pre-sale is going to be invaluable. Can anyone tell me what I can do? I sent something in to paypal but a lot of times it takes forever for an answer.

Once that is figured out, are there buttons I can use for people to go to paypal from my website without worrying about shopping carts etc. So they can pre-buy tickets, shirts, posters etc.? We will be working all this out for next year, but for this year I need whatever help someone can give me. My mentor suggested coming here.

Thanks in advance! We're a new city for this event this year and we want to do a good job and keep things moving forward. The organization we've cobbled together is new as the Memphis Browncoats disappeared somewhere awhile back.

I also have a question on how one entices a business to donate when we are not a 501(c) (Until next year) How does a business take it off their taxes then?

Is it possible to co-sponsor the event with someone who has a 501(c) status and have the money run through their account instead?

Seriously just want to do a good job and now that I have a venue, I need this so I can get off the ground.

Thanks again.

Anne

they way i keep the money separate is by having a second checking account.

i have a personal paypal account which i did not want to change so i can still accept money with no fees from friends.

so, i registered with paypal for the business level account using my second checking account and a second credit card, with a different email address of mine.

as for the tax stuff, you need the equality now tax id. i don't have it off-hand. maybe someone else has it?

Hello, Anne,
I do run my Pay Pal sales through my own Pay Pal account. However, there is a way to have notices for CSTS sales sent to a separate email. I have an email just for CSTS -- RaleighBrowncoat (at) gmail (dot) com -- gmail is free email (I can invite you if you want an account). Then I added the CSTS email to my Pay Pal account.

Then, when I made my "buy it now" buttons -- I don't use a shopping cart -- there's a way to add more options to the button when creating it.

Go to "Merchant Services" and click "Buy it now button". (Hmm... now that I think about it, I have a merchant Pay Pal account. Maybe you'll need to upgrade to that, to be able to make buttons.) Click "add more options" when you're done with the first button page, and you will be taken to a second page of options. At the bottom there will be a drop down menu where you can choose to have notices sent to any one of the email accounts associated with your pay pal account. Choose your CSTS email, and every time someone buys something though that button, the notice will go to your CSTS email.

So, yes, the CSTS money still comes into my personal Pay Pal account, but the NOTICES about who bought what all go to my CSTS email. From those email notices, I do my bookkeeping for the event.

I also open a free checking account at BB&T to hold the money. I tell them it's just a temporary account for an annual fund-raiser, and I don't pay any fees for it. Then every so often I take money out of my Pay Pal account and deposit it there, just so nothing wacky happens to the funds...

HTH. Good luck!
~Flame~
