Here are our details for the Boston event:
The New England Browncoats present the 5th Annual "Can't Stop the Serenity" Event at the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline, MA at midnight on Friday and Saturday June 18th and 19th, 2010.
"Can’t Stop the Serenity" is a global fundraising effort to benefit Equality Now. In the last four years, the New England Browncoats have raised over $20,000, and in total over $500,000 has been raised for Equality Now around the world. You can find more information about the global event at
https://www.cantstoptheserenity.com.
This year, we will have 2 different special nights of events. On Friday, June 18th we will be screening Joss Whedon's award-winning Internet musical sensation Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog featuring a shadowcast performance by The Teseracte Players of Boston. On Saturday June 19th we will be screening Joss Whedon’s 2005 film Serenity. Both events will start at midnight.
Fans of Joss Whedon show Dr. Horrible and Serenity on his birthday to honor him and to raise money for his favorite charity, Equality Now. Equality Now (
http://equalitynow.org/) works to end violence and discrimination against women and girls around the world through the mobilization of public pressure.
In addition to raising money for Equality Now, we will also be collecting non-perishable food items for the Greater Boston Food Bank. In the past four years we have collected over 3,000 lbs. of food for the GBFB. Anyone that brings a donation will be eligible for raffle prizes, including actual props used in the film Serenity.
Admission for each night will be $15 in advance and $20 the day of the show. A special 2-night combo ticket will be available for $25 available in advance only. Tickets will be available starting in May at the Coolidge Corner Theatre Box Office or online at
http://www.coolidge.org. Details on the event will be listed and updated at

About Serenity: Released in 2005 to avid fans, Serenity was a movie made in response to a canceled television show called “Firefly”. Considered a “sci-fi-western”, the film highlights the lives and troubles of a misfit crew. In a word, the film is about belief and belief in something that is worth fighting for. Serenity is rated PG-13 by the MPAA.
About Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog: Conceived as an "online miniseries event" during the 2008 writers' strike, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is a 42-minute musical romp that bears the distinctive stamp of Joss Whedon. Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother) plays the title character, who video-blogs about his twin goals to join the Evil League of Evil and to woo the fair Penny (Felicia Day of the Web series The Guild), a woman he met at the local Laundromat. Dr. Horrible is foiled on both fronts, however, by his arch-nemesis, the self-absorbed superhero Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion, Whedon's Firefly).
