if you are a knitter and/or crocheter, you may have heard of Ravelry. it's a site, kinda like Facebook in that you can meet all kinds of knitters/crocheters there, but it's not such a random site. absolutely everyone on the site is a knitter or crocheter and ALL talk is about the craft. there is a group called Big Damn Knitters and there is now a thread about Can't Stop the Serenity. this would be a fantastic place to see if you can get some jayne hats for your event. NOTE: you must be a member of Ravelry to see the site (and the waiting time is about 1 or 2 weeks to get activated). just an idea... laura |

I would have to agree with Laura's advice. We have a Big Damn Knitter here in Charlotte who has always been most generous in donating a hat or two for our screening. And they are quite popular -- great for an auction. |

Knitter of Jayne Hats here and a member of Ravelry already. Sometimes posting to the Yahoo groups and Meetup groups in your area will get you a knitter/Browncoat a little easier than Ravelry which has people joining worldwide. That said, there is also a Whedonesque group of knitters on Ravelry as well. Knitters can be generous with their craft especially if their yarn is paid for by someone else. For those interested, Lamb's Pride Bulky (brand of yarn) in the colors of Lemon Drop, Harvest Gold and Ruby are the ones I use for a Jayne Hat and I can generally get 2.5 hats or more out of one skein of each color. Also popular for raffles and gift baskets are small cellphone/PDA holders in the shape & colors of a Jayne Hat and they go together much quicker than a full sized one. |
