As soon as possible, if you please.

The brief:
Phoenix/Tempe
Raised money for Growth Improvement for Female Teens (GIFT). See www.azgift.org
Amount raised = $1239.05

Tucson
Raised money for the Women's Foundation of Southern Arizona (WFSA). See www.womengiving.org
Amount raised = $1094.20

The long:
In 2007, the Arizona Browncoats donated 80% of each screening's proceeds to the CSTS campaign and thus Equality Now. The other 20% from each city was given to a local beneficiary whose goals and aims fell into line with Joss Whedon's vision of empowering women.

Tempe chose GIFT (Growth Improvement for Female Teens), an organization committed to empowering young women. Currently GIFT is working with the AZ Department of Juvenile Corrections to create a resiliency program for girls returning to their home communities from corrections and with several school districts on a program for girls transitioning into high school. GIFT programs have established a place for girls to discuss and solve problems within their community. Over 500 girls have already been impacted by GIFT programming with many more to come.

Tucson chose WFSA (the Women's Foundation of Southern Arizona), an organization dedicated to fostering equity and opportunity for local women and girls. WFSA runs a program they call Unidas, which teaches girls leadership and philanthropy skills and brings them together to discuss some of the issues challenging women and girls today, learn how to read and assess grants, and value the need for social change. WFSA also advances women's leadership and philanthropy by raising, managing and granting money to meet the unique needs of women and girls.

The monies came out as follows:

Tempe total: $6195.25
20% to GIFT: $1239.05
80% to Equality Now: $4956.20

Tucson total: $5471.00
20% to WFSA: $1094.20
80% to Equality Now: $4376.80

Thus, the grand total raised for charity by the Arizona Browncoats in 2007 was $11,666.25.
