Hey All!
Just thought I'd let everyone know that our event went very very well! We had a great turn out and we had a lot of contributions - in every sense of the word.
Geoffrey Mandel was an excellent guest speaker and a very personable person. His presentation was great and gave us all a behind the scenes look at his work on Serenity. He also brought us a some actual money that was used on the set that we auctioned off, as well as a blueprint set (the small ones, in the spiral bound book) that we auction off as well. Thanks Geoff!
Also, the makers of Done the Impossible, Jeremy Neish and Tony Hadlock came, with a few other crew members. They had DTI Posters that they let us give away, as well as gave us a portion of the DVD and CD sales to go toward our donation to EN. They also donated a Serenity Blueprint set (one of the limited edition 12 page in a tube) that we auctioned off. They were great! Thanks guys!
We had the best browncoat fans at the theater! I had never seen the movie on the big screen, and let me tell you - THAT is the only was to watch it! In a theater full of Browncoats, on the big screen. The audience laughed and cheered in all the right places and it was the best screening ever!
We had several large donations even after our event was over and we do still have some merchandise left over that people are buying, so our total donation is still growing! I truly hope to breach the $2000 mark before too much longer! What a great first event!
We are already planning for next year's event - and its going to just as good - if not better!, plus we have our shindig on Sept 13th - for those who couldn't make it to our CSTS screening. This is going to be a banner year for the Utah Browncoats - but we will outdo ourselves next year!
Thank you to all of you on the boards that we so very supportive and helpful! This event wouldn't have happened without all of you! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Nicole
