I'm hoping I can get a co-signature on our cheque to BC Women's this week and get that off.

I'm just wondering where the amount came from that is listed as our donation to EN. I sent $4,000 Canadian via PayPal on September 8th. According to PayPal, they converted that to US$ at a rate of $1.0375. (In other words, the Canadian dollar was worth almost $.04 more than the US dollar.) I know that PayPal charges the recipient, but that would mean they charged EN almost $400! Is that right? Can this amount be confirmed?

Thanks. Several of us donated personally so that we could reach the $5,000 mark this year and I would like to make sure that is recognised.

Wow, I don't remember the PayPal fees being that high before! I was so pleased that this year the Canadian dollar was higher - although it isn't now - and I figured the exchange would pay for any fees. That's the pits. :(

I know. That's one of the reasons why we're investigating other payment options. For our $7000 donation in 2010, we opted for credit card and our fees were about $225. We're investigating international money order this year.

From what I can figure out, ours was about $360 for $4,000!! That's about a 9% fee. I don't remember it being that much last year, although I wasn't paying it and I probably just thought it was all exchange. :(

It would be worthwhile verifying this with Paypal to be certain. If you're a non-profit, they may be able to give you some concessions.

I have received a receipt from BC Women's Hospital that they received our $1,000 donation. If you need confirmation to include it in our total, I can scan it to someone.

Great to see all the numbers coming in! :D

I'm confused as to how the total donation tally is less than the amount to EN, though? I thought it might just be a typo on this page, but the numbers are the same on the home page sidebar after the recent update. If you add the amounts currently listed as going to EN and to other charities, you actually get $141,866.07, rather than the $107,882.94 currently listed.

Gwynedd, Good question and I'll get the answer for you and whoever else might be wondering. My first guess is that it is the difference between reported (Higher) and confirmed (lower) as it takes time to get everything confirmed.

The Global Donation tally for 2011 has been updated!

We're just waiting on the following before we can call it done:
- Baltimore, MD – Pending confirmation about donation to Browncoat Big Damn Fan Films Inc
- Seattle, WA – Pending confirmation about donation to Museum of History and Industry
- San Diego, CA - No amounts reported or confirmed
- CSTS Global Auction (hosted by Fanporium) - Pending confirmation from Equality Now

But we've already raised $10,000 more than in 2010, so congratulations everyone!!!
