Attendees! What did you love about the event you attended?

Every city runs a CSTS event differently. And we can all learn from each other on how to make the screening or auction or raffle or whathaveyou, even better.
So let's hear from you- the people who came, who bought, who bid, who gave up your hard earned coin.

What did you love the best? What cool idea did your city do which was extra shiny?
And yes, what do you wish they had done differently?

I don't know if other cities are doing this, but in Portland OR they do what they call a 'Special Hell' screening. It's usually the last one, and you're actually allowed to talk in the theater. They also project funny comments on the wall next to the screen. I've gone to that screening the last 2 years - it's an incredible feeling to be in a packed theater of people all screaming at Wash to get out of the chair.

Priceless. I'd give good money to attend that screening.

I would LOVE a "Special Hell" screening. I've been to three screenings now, and I have to admit that by now they're pretty much all the same. Raffle, t-shirts, merch, and really the same people. I keep going because I enjoy the social aspect but I think last year the local Browncoats chapter tried to mix it up a little with some intermission entertainment and a lot of people were very confused because it had nothing to do with Firefly. As far as I know, no one on Firefly has ever bellydanced. It was a good performance, just not really related to the event at hand. Kudos for trying, though!

For other events we have made a 'Cortex' slideshow on a laptop with pictures of people who gave a donation but couldn't make it to the event. It made them feel a part of the event and the local total donation even though they couldn't be there. We also had memorial donations in people's names which went on the Cortex.
