One of my volunteers yesterday for organising the auction, prizes and grab bags said one of her friends had gone to the Toronto event and had a great time!

It makes us very happy to hear that people had such a good time!
We had about 236 tickets sold this year, which is a bit lower than previous years, but people made up for it with their generosity in our auction!

It was a great time. We had over 100 people attend the dinner/shindig after the screening.

And thanks to our charming Toronto Browncoat, Sunny, who went around with a donation jar, more money was raised at the dinner. I think it catches those who expected to spend more at the screening who are now sitting down with good food and drink & feeling expansive. :wink:

Sounds like a good plan. We only had a few people stay for dinner so I only collected for pizza money.

Great job Toronto. And fabulous idea on putting out a donation jar at a post event meal. might need to "borrow" that next year.

Congratulations! I love reading how each screening has done something unique, and I love the idea of a shindig dinner afterwards, and passing a "donation" jar around.

Here are the details of our event in Toronto this year:

We had approximately 236 attendees this year - our numbers were down a little bit from previous years, but everyone more than made up for it with their generosity at the auction which brought in a whopping $2982 this year! We also had over $150 of straight cash donations during the event and after party as well.

Our total amount raised thus far has been $7900 CAN!

We have sent our donation to Equality Now, and after all the associated fees etc. (and thanks to our dollar,) it worked out to $7900 US! Got to love that exchange rate, for once

We still hope to do a Dr. Horrible screening this year, so that number should hopefully be even higher before we're done!
