Licensing rights for CSTS events

Wed Jun 01, 2011 7:51 pm

Question regarding the licensing of performances before showing Serenity at our event. Last year we hosted a shadowcast of Dr. Horrible; this year I'm told we can't due to the rights being pulled. Where is that 'official' announcement listed, and are there other shows forbidden as well, like 'Once More With Feeling'? Please advise.

All licensing for CSTS has been discussed on the tread viewtopic.php?f=22&t=1233&start=0 Licensing for 2011.
In it they have stated that we do have a green light for showing Dr Horrible at any CSTS event this year. Some other licensing agreements are listed in there such as Browncoats Redemption and 'She Doesn't Like Firefly'.

Hi Marcm,

Thanks for your questions.

You'll find the answers in the How To Guide on obtaining licensing:
viewtopic.php?f=56&t=1253

This thread includes the announcement from the Dr Horrible team regarding licensing limitations, so that you can read the details first hand.

It also contains information about limitations surrounding other Whedonverse properties, such as Buffy, Angel, Firefly and Dollhouse. These shows cannot be performed publically (either screened or live performances) as 20th Century Fox do not offer licensing except to broadcasters at this time.

ETA: I've moved this thread to the Advice section rather than the Global Announcements forum.
