Hey all. I'm James and I'm running Nottingham's Screening and Shindig this year!

This year’s event is happening in the afternoon of Sunday 10th of June, as usual starting with a screening of Joss Whedon’s Serenity and raffle on the University of Nottingham campus, and then after continuing with a shindig at our favorite local pub, The Johnson Arms. The screening will start at 3pm sharp, with the screen opening at 2:30pm. We will move to the Johnson Arms at about 6pm.

In a slight change from usual we are donating a portion of the profits to a second charity. 75% will as usual go to Equality Now, who have been fighting for Women’s Rights world wide for the last 20 years. This year the other 25% is being donated to Anthony Nolan, in memory of James Bullock, a key helper at our previous events who sadly passed away recently. Anthony Nolan are a charity who help save the lives of people with blood cancer who need a blood stem cell, or bone marrow transplant, and a cause we feel strongly about. http://www.anthonynolan.org/

Tickets will as usual be £5 for entry to the screening, with entry to the after shindig being free of charge (though if you want to make an extra donation we would be delighted to take it).

Just a week away! The season is upon us!

Hey Everyone! Can't Stop the Serenity Nottingham is this Sunday! So I thought I'd update you on some of the details. If you'd like more information on what the event is, and why we do it, you can visit the event page at http://nottingham.cantstoptheserenity.org.uk/. For those of you that are too lazy:

Can't Stop the Serenity Nottingham is part of the global Can't Stop the Serenity fundraising drive. This year we are raising money for two charities. Equality Now, who work for the protection and promotion of the human rights of women and girls around the world, and Anthony Nolan, who help save the lives of people with blood cancer who need a blood stem cell, or bone marrow transplant.
The event begins with a screening of Joss Whedon's Serenity, followed by a raffle and sale of themed merchandise. Afterwards we have a shindig, BBQ, and watch Doctor Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog.

Schedule of the Day
2:15pm: Lobby opens for ticket collection, raffle and merchandise sales.
2:30pm: Screen opens.
3:00pm: Screening Starts.
5:00pm: Film ends, Raffle Draw.
5:30pm: Move to The Johnson Arms for After-Shindig
6:30pm: Barbecue.
9:00pmish: Doctor Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog Screening.

The screening and raffle happen in A48, Sir Clive Granger Building, University Park, University of Nottingham, NG7 2JP. The building is right next to the University's Visitor Carpark. Follow the signs to it and then walk around the building to the left of the car parks entry road.

The shindig is 10 minutes walk away from the screening at The Johnson Arms, Abbey Street, NG7 2NZ. If you don't know the way wait in the lobby after the raffle and we will make sure you get there. There isn't parking at The Johnson Arms, but if you are unable to manage the walk, or would just prefer to drive, there are a couple of residential streets a few doors past it that you should be able to find space on.
