The Phoenix chapter of the Arizona Browncoats are having their CSTS shindig on Sunday, September 16th, 2012 at approximately 3PM. We're still hammering out the schedule.

The venue is the fabulous Studio Movie Grill, at the top of the 101 and Hayden Road in Scottsdale.

Price has not been set yet.

From all the feedback we received, it was a smashing success. Studio Movie Grill were excellent sponsors. The staff is extremely friendly and efficient, and the food and drink were incredible. I created a special menu of the day, featuring their food but with a twist on the naming of them. For example, they serve frozen hot chocolate, so I called it River's Frozen Hot Chocolate-her food is problematic. And they serve Nathan's hot dogs so of course it became "the Captain's Good Dogs.

Lisa Richins designed all the raffle baskets and they were beautiful. We had a few themed baskets for Firefly/Serenity, and Buffyverse, and Dr. Horrible. But the favorite of the night was the Companion's basket. It was a collection of things ladies love. There was tea donated by Beth of the Austin Browncoats, a Scentsy warmer and fragrances, and a lovely blown glass dish with the Serenity logo on the front. Awesome. Sharan Hoyle volunteered to sell the raffle tickets for us. She is a veteran when it comes to selling raffle tickets and she handled the crowds really well.

The team that was a part of this has done this before. And when they arrived they went to work like well-oiled machine. It was a joy to watch Kevin and his daughter Jen put together the Merch table. She knows how to lay out the merch to maximize it's appeal.

We had sold all of our tickets through the AzB's website so we had no real hardcopy tickets to handle until the day of the show. Each person showed their ID at the willcall table and a team of 4 ladies, Shellei, Marg, Lori, and Lisa, processed them through with breakneck speed and efficiency. I heard no complaints about waiting in line. And we stamped everyone with a "blue hands" stamp. They loved it.

David Richins was our emcee for the day and he kept us on schedule. He also created our EqualityNow PSA and introduced the ladies from our secondary charity, Kids Need To Read. We invited local singer Paul Knight to sing a small set of 3 songs from the verse between each movie. And judging from the crowds reaction and applause I think they really enjoyed themselves.

We should have totals in a couple of days. Lisa is the treasurer and she rules our finances with an iron fist. Love her!

p.s. Arizona Browncoats won the bid for the Browncoat Ball in 2013 and we announced that last night. Squeee!

A perfect example of why having a team of volunteers is the way to go! Congratulations on getting the Browncoat Ball as well.
