Thinking of you today and wondering how it went.

Thank you, Gayle. I appreciate the good thoughts. We had a little over a hundred people come for the full event. Not too many walk-ups this year, possibly due to other festivals, the closure of the major highway nearby and event fatigue by folks who have come every year previously.
We covered the expenses with the attendee tickets so we're relieved by that. The raffle brings in the money for the donation and we'll be counting that up today. We tried having a silent auction along with our raffle and that didn't do as well. Partly from lack of time and IMHO, partly from the high starting bids for some of the items. People who come to our events aren't willing to start bidding at $100 for a print of a a picture. We did have some better luck with the two items we auctioned off live after the movie. We auctioned the Blu-Ray disc of the movie that we had just shown and we auctioned the Jet City Comic Con tickets and private lunch with William Katt.
A lot of the credit for getting the audience involved goes to our fantastic emcees. They are entertainers to the max and the folks love the "show".
I'll put more on the "what worked" and "what didn't work" threads later. For now, I'm recovering with coffee and going to see a friend's movie short at the Maelstrom International Fantasy Film Festival.
Overall, I'm pleased with how it went this year but we will most likely be scaling back next year and possibly even do an affiliate event. Andrea & I are just plain tired. Yawn...

Congratulations! It sounds like a fun time. Maybe next year I'll make it.

Our photographer, Kat Cheney, put together a video with several hundred shots of our event and added background music from Vixy & Tony. You might even see a familiar face or two! PS. I couldn't figure out how to embed a video that isn't YouTube so the link will have to do.
